The Spirit@Work® cards were first introduced in 1996 and were an immediate success. Several printings followed, and people found many applications for them in corporations and organizations of all kinds and began using them as personal gifts of friendship and spirit. As we prepared for yet another printing, it became obvious that these little cards were meeting an important purpose in the corporate world. So we thought about how we could improve on the original concept.
These new Spirit@Work® Cards are the result. The majority of the material for this new edition is original and has been combined with several ideas from earlier works, including: Inspirational Leadership®: Destiny, Calling, and Cause; Reclaiming Higher Ground: Creating Organizations That Inspire the Soul; Living the Moment: A Sacred Journey; and Managerial Moxie: The 8 Proven Steps to Empowering Employees and Supercharging Your Employees.
The cards include frequent references to Higher Ground Leadership®, a breakthrough leadership practice that questions, deepens, and enriches conventional leadership thinking (the old story) with a new wisdom based on ancient teachings that have been adapted to the needs of the modern organization (the New Story). The New Story of Leadership is Higher Ground Leadership®—a way of being and leading that closely follows the finer qualities of the 77 key words contained in the Spirit@Work® Cards.
