Learn more about the Leadership Summit

You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.

Conventional wisdom tells us that breakthroughs in life cannot be made without enormous effort sustained over a long period of time. In every field there are many entrenched, traditional beliefs that present insurmountable hurdles to achieving the remarkable. It is true in life, and it is true in leadership. This thinking is old-fashioned and unnecessary.

The Leadership Summit is designed to help you achieve two goals:

  1. A breakthrough leading to increased clarity in your personal life resulting in a renewed sense of purpose, passion, vitality, inspiration and values.
  2. A breakthrough in personal and leadership capacity that will guide you to:
    1. Find the best team members
    2. Retain and nurture talent
    3. Develop a set of core values
    4. Become an inspiration to your colleagues, customers and suppliers and community
    5. Become inspiring, and create an inspiring organization, in an environment that is not always inspiring
    6. Create a dream
    7. Create a culture that supports the journey
    8. Develop greater innovation skills
    9. Provide unparalleled service to customers
    10. Deal with uncertainty
    11. Recover from a major setback
    12. Make courageous decisions
    13. Ensure your organization is sustainable
    14. Create a legacy

All of this is achieved through the mountain as metaphor.  We are not teaching skiing—that is the role of the Copper Mountain Ski and Ride School, and you can find great teachers there.  But we want you to have fun and grow—and, as I do with all of my friends, I will show you the mountain and make the connections for you between the splendor and majesty of the mountains and the elegance and grace or our presence there—and the rest of your life as a leader.

We will learn together how to achieve breakthroughs in leadership in a remarkably short period of time. The wellspring for great leadership is courage and trust—where does this come from? We discover and live the answer on the mountain.

Each winter, leaders from around the world visit with me in Colorado to learn how to significantly increase their leadership skills and live lives that are inspiring—and inspiring to others. And we do this in a fraction of the time we usually expect for such breakthroughs—it takes passion, the willingness to let go of old ideas, learn and change, and a desire to improve—and most importantly, a firm belief that there are no limits.
