Tom Moreland MHSA, CHCE, KM first felt a calling to care for those in need in the first grade, while fetching water for patients at Mercy Hospital In Iowa City, IA. It was during college, while serving patients with AIDS at the “Gift of Love” Hospice, that Tom realized his true vocation in life: to serve the sick and dying. Inspired by this passion, Tom worked for multiple hospice companies in states from coast to coast. In 2005, after much research, planning and prayer he founded his own hospice from a small office in Johnston, IA, a suburb of Des Moines. Although Tom knew his calling, the Pathfinder program helped him define his destiny, which is to inspire others to take care of the sick, the dying and the most vulnerable. Tom lives his destiny daily by guiding his company to take care of terminally ill patients from offices in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Wisconsin. He leads and encourages his staff to not just provide compassionate care, but to truly serve by providing ‘Radical Loving Care,’ having Kindness in all Relationships, providing love and hope daily, and following the Ethical and Religious Directives of Catholic Health Care services to uphold the sacredness of life through the very end.
