Jim MacNaughton
Jim has been involved in the Information Technology profession since the early 1970’s as an analyst, project manager, program manager and consultant. He has worked in the eras of mainframes, minicomputers and client/server technologies, watched the advent and growth of personal computing, the emergence of large scale ERP systems and the growth of third party software solutions, and is currently participating in the implementation of Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud computing. He has worked in numerous companies and industries including a variety of government departments and agencies as well as the transportation, electrical distribution, financial services, telecommunications, oil and gas, and mining industries.
Over the years Jim has developed deep interest in the importance and impact that human relationships have in the successful delivery of what are ostensibly technical implementations. This interest has led to his undertaking a journey of learning about what it means to bring extensive inter-personal relationship skills into his project management practice. In addition to his long-term membership with the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), Jim is proud to have studied with Dr. Lance Secretan and be a Higher Ground Leadership® Pathfinder with the Secretan Center, to have worked with Warren Redman of the Emotional Fitness Institute and be certified as an Emotional Fitness Coach, to have spent time with Dr. Nancy Love of the PULSE Institute and be a certified PULSE Practitioner and, most recently, to be associated with the work of Dr. Ron Cacioppe and the Integral Business Leadership Group. Learning is a life-long passion for Jim and he applies this learning daily to all the aspects of his work.
Jim applies a Values-centered Leadership® approach and the CASTLE Principles™ to all the work that he undertakes. He developed a Why-Be-Do at a Higher Ground Leadership® course some time ago that has helped him address the multitude of situations he faces in the workplace; bringing a sense of calm to tense situations, creating opportunities for collaboration, and facilitating effective inter-personal interactions that naturally occur in projects and group situations. Jim looks forward to bringing these values, principles and abilities to individuals, teams and organizations as a Higher Ground Leadership® Pathfinder.
