Very interesting perspective Bill. You might be right. But even so, my theory isn't about politics. It's about style. The idea of separateness - regardless of the political background of the leader - has been strong during the past eight years. The idea of oneness - again, taking the politics out of the discussion - has been strong from Obama during this election campaign. More intersting for me is whether or not the rhetoric during the run-up to the election will be sustained in office. If it can be, then your concerns and mine will prove to be unfounded. We will also be able to test whether, and how well, leadership that honors oneness works in the world, and how much it influences leadership style generally.

Is it possible that America voted out of fear? We fear an economic collapse. We fear endless war. We clung to spit and polish. The vote for "hope" may be more of a gambit. We've overlooked the president elect's documented history of unloving power politics and his callous disregard for banning partial-birth abortion. Many who voted for the president elect disregarded their own values not out of unity born of good-will, but fear. Our vote may have ended supply-side economics, but begun an era of supply-side politics where an elite, litigious class governs with cold hubris.

Dear Lance

Liked your blog comment and could not agree more. Interesting that the original American motto that I heard Obama quote more than once was 'out of many we are one.' This was replaced by 'In God we trust' by the American people some time later. Perhaps America should return to its original motto/slogan?

You may also have noted the 'Rest of the World Voting site' which at the last point that I looked was running 84/12 in favour of Obama. Sounds like your new President will be somewhat more popular with the rest of the world than his predecessor.

I am off to a World Congress on Project Management in Rome this weekend where my two worlds are closing as I give a paper on 'The rise of SQ (Spiritual Intelligence) and its relationship to Program and Project Management'!

God bless you and your work,

Love Alan
