Carol Seglins has held elected office for fifteen years. She welcomed the introduction of the principles of Higher Ground Leadership® in the municipality of Caledon, Ontario, Canada, where during her mayorship, she encouraged an inclusive model of community partnership to plan for a healthy future environment and quality of life. One of Carol’s many achievements during her three terms as mayor was the award given to Caledon for being the greenest town in Ontario.
Carol is now moving to a new role working with other municipal leaders committed to Higher Ground Leadership® and to changing the nature and tone of politics and political leadership. Her passion is to serve as a leader who inspires others to participate in shaping the world around them so that their community, country or place of work reflects and achieves the respect, compassion and love for each other necessary for the future well-being of our planet.
Being inspired by the work of Lance Secretan and his team, she is now working through the Secretan Center with local municipalities and their elected and appointed officials to broaden the opportunities available for them to be introduced to the principles of Higher Ground Leadership®.
Carol’s Destiny is "To inspire people to work together to make the world a better place, when planning their communities, settling disputes, and resolving issues". Her many years of experience in different political arenas, as well as her practice and know-how as a former school teacher and successful business owner, have given her a unique insight into working effectively in the community, the workplace and the classroom. Carol continues to expand her areas of contribution through her work in mediation and board directorships to give leadership to the planning for caring health and social services in her community and guiding the direction of professionals in careers of the dispute resolution field. She is keening involved in Restorative Justice as she participates in inspiring young people to make more productive life choices in order to live caring, positive lives.
Carol was born in Toronto and raised in Sudbury, receiving her B.A. (Psychology) at the University of Toronto and her B.B.A. (Finance) at York University. She earned her A.M.C.T.
