I don’t know about you, but I have noticed myself complaining more than usual lately—about polarized politics, climate change inactivity, religious intolerance, and most of all, about the inability of so many people to “hear” others and their views, with respect and an open mind.
I am making a commitment today—and I’m not waiting until the New Year—to stop complaining, to see the upside in everything, and to always be a part of the solution instead of the problem. All of this comes naturally to me, but the events of the last few years have tarnished my resolve to be a positive force in the world and I’m committed to reversing that. Do you feel the same way?
When a 16-year old Oshkosh West High School student was stabbed on December 3, 2019, students fled in many directions seeking safety. Cool-thinking, “solutions-minded”, 17-year old Duaa Ahmad entered the security code to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s Oshkosh chapter mosque and enabled 100 students to find safe shelter inside.
This is the world I want to live in. How about you? What will your first step be?
